Concrete Repair at Crestone in Aurora
- Aurora, CO
- Gated townhome community
Asphalt Coatings Company replaced concrete in three places at Crestone, a gated townhome community on East Iowa Avenue in Aurora. Two long strips were cut through the asphalt parking lot and poured new, one straight past the garages and one curving toward the dog park. Closer to the homes, our crew rebuilt a slab at a unit entrance and one panel of the sidewalk. Every pour shown here happened in a single day.

Preparing the slab and sidewalk panel
Both small pours at Crestone started with the old concrete gone and the ground left bare.

Remove
The old slab at the unit entrance and one cracked sidewalk panel were taken out down to soil.

Form
Lumber forms, staked on the open sides, set the edges of each new pour.

Dowel
Short rebar dowels were drilled into the front step and the neighboring walk so the new concrete ties into the old.

Pour and finish
Fresh concrete filled each form and got a broom finish before caution tape went up around it.
Concrete strips in the parking lot
The longest pours at Crestone run through the parking lot itself.
The crew broke out the asphalt, dug a trench and set wood forms, some bent to follow a curve. A mixer truck backed up and chuted concrete straight into the forms while others spread it with shovels. Finishers then worked the surface smooth and tooled joints along its length. The straight strip ends at an existing concrete section near the garages. Poly sheeting was laid out beside it as the concrete set.
