How each strip was repaired

Each strip went through the same four steps on site.

During
Heat
A truck-mounted infrared heater sat over the worn asphalt until it softened.
During
Rake
With the heater lifted away, the crew raked the hot material level against the concrete pan.
During
Roll
A small roller then compacted the strip while it was still steaming.
After
Finish
The finished strip sits flush with the concrete, one continuous dark band from end to end.

Repairs along the storefronts

In front of the shops, the repairs cross the parking rows close to the doors. One runs nearly the full length of the building. Another ends at a storm drain beside the concrete barrier at the end of the row.
