Concrete Walkway Repair and Parking Lot Striping at Eastridge Recreation Center in Highlands Ranch

  • Highlands Ranch, CO
  • Recreation center walkways and parking lot

Asphalt Coatings Company rebuilt sections of the covered walkway at Eastridge Recreation Center in Highlands Ranch, then patched and restriped the parking lot. Breaking out the old concrete took the first two days. A patch went in at the lot entrance on the third, and the new concrete and most of the striping followed two days after that. The next day, the exit lane carried new turn arrows.

Replacing the covered walkway

The walkway work ran in four steps under the canopy and along the drop-off curb.

  1. Check the slab

A tape measure against the old slab edge showed its depth before demolition.

  2. Break out

Our crew broke out the walkway between the canopy columns with a jackhammer and a stand-on mini loader, leaving the buried conduit in place.

  3. Set the drain

Under one downspout, a slotted trench drain went into a trench cut across the walkway.

  4. Pour

New broom-finished slabs now fill the walkway around the columns and on both sides of the drain.

Patching and striping the parking lot

Out in the lot, one large patch covered the worn asphalt at the entrance, and the crew restriped the stalls, crosswalks and drive lanes.

  • Entrance patch

Fresh asphalt now fills the worn section where the concrete entrance meets the drive.

  • Crosswalks

Wide white crosswalk bars cross the drive aisles, with a stop bar at the inner intersection.

  • Stall lines

Some of the striping went on at dusk, with white lines laid along the curbs and in front of the entrance.

  • ADA stalls

A row of ADA stalls carries blue symbols and white hatched access aisles.

  • Exit lane

Where the lot meets University Boulevard, a left-turn arrow and a straight-or-right arrow split the exit lane.

  • Center line

A double yellow line follows the curved entry drive.
